Barbados educators concerned about increasing student-on-teacher attacks

The Barbados Union of Teachers and the Barbados Secondary Teachers' Union are raising an alarm over the increasing incidents of student-on-teacher attacks.

The Teachers Union president says there has been a marked jump in violent activities at some schools where teachers are being threatened.

He was responding to reports that three teachers at one institution had been violently attacked or threatened by students since the new school term started.

The current situation has resulted in a number of the educators calling in sick, in fear for their health and safety.
