Militant vendors objecting to the ongoing police operation in downtown Kingston on Thursday have turned on legitimate businesses in the area.
Some of the vendors are forcibly closing the shutters of other businesses saying that if they are not able to sell in downtown Kingston, no one should.
Police, who are insisting that the vendors must leave the streets immediately, brought heavy duty vehicles to demolish stalls in unauthorized areas.
However, vendors, who contend that Coronation Market is not a suitable alternative, remain resolute in their resistance.
In the meantime, police have reported some success so far in related crime control measures.
An illegal Bush Master Rifle was reportedly recovered on Bread Lane in Hannah Town during Thursday morning's operation.
The Police estimate that so far approximately 10 tons of debris and other material have been cleared from the operational area.
Personnel from the Jamaica Public Service, who were a part of the operations have also identified and disconnected more than 330 illegal connections.
