Four men are in hospital being treated for burns after their car burst into flames on the P.J. Patterson Highway on Monday morning.
The two rear seat passengers are in serious condition.
Superintendent Winchester Watson, in charge of the Traffic Enforcement Division at the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), says the occupants of a Toyota Corolla motorcar were travelling in the direction of Kingston when the incident occurred about 7:30.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guard rail. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Superintendent Watson revealed that another motorist was apparently entering the highway without due care and to avoid a collision, the driver of the Toyota Corolla swerved right, resulting in him crashing into the guard rail.
"There were four members aboard - two whom received minor burns, while two were seriously burned. There were all rushed to the May Pen Hospital, and the fire unit from Old Harbour came on the scene and cooled down the scene," he said.
An investigation into the incident continues.
