The mortality rate was influenced mainly by deaths due to lifestyle diseases, traffic accidents, and homicides.
Based on cause of death data by gender, the top two leading causes of death for males five years and over were external causes, such as traffic crashes as well as homicides with cerebrovascular diseases in second place.
Among women in the same age group, the top two causes were diabetes and cerebrovascular diseases.
