Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams has said persons should not attempt to clear landslides without the assistance of response teams.

He said this could pose a danger to residents.

"Our engineers have advised that they are waiting before the removal of the landslides because at times, the landslides provide a buffer or support for the soil above. The soil is super saturated now and some of the landslides that have taken place (are) now providing a support for the soil above. So we have to be careful in how we remove the landslides and also we advised residents that the landslides must only be removed by public officials, public officers and that no one should go about trying to remove any landslides on their own. It's extremely dangerous," he urged.

Mr. Williams was speaking Monday during a tour of flood ravaged areas in Kingston and St. Andrew.
