A man is dead and his 15-year-old daughter missing after a wall collapsed on their house at Toby Gully in Shooter's Hill, East Rural St. Andrew Friday morning.
He has been identified as 42-year-old Romeo Leachman.
Reports are that sometime after 7 o'clock, a landslide caused the wall to fall on the board dwelling.
Mr. Leachman's sister, Rosemarie, recalled the harrowing moment, telling Radio Jamaica News she was clearing water that had flooded her dwelling when she heard a loud sound. However, she said she didn't realise what had happened until a neighbour called out to her to say her brother's house had collpased under the fallen wall.
She said residents came to their assistance and began cuttng down trees to locate her brother and niece.
Mr. Leachman's body was later found. However, emergency crews are searching the rubble for the teenager.
"We found the male under the rubble. We are now searching for the daughter which we believe might still be there. Our efforts are impeded due to the terrain and the condition that is here now, which is the rain and such," a district officer from the Rollington Town fire station told Radio Jamaica News.
The National Works Agency (NWA) is working with firefighters to locate the missing teenager.
NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says the team is assisting with heavy equipment to lift the rubble.
