A majority of Jamaicans believe the level of health care at the country's public hospitals is either average or below average.
This was revealed in the latest Don Anderson poll.
Asked to rate the system from 1 to 10 - with 10 being the best score - a combined 62.4 per cent of respondents gave a rating of 1 to 5.
A breakdown shows 21.6 per cent rated the system at 5; 11.7 per cent said 4; 8.4 per cent of respondents rated it at 3; and 4.9 per cent said 2.
Another 15.8 per cent of the 1,012 people who took part in the survey gave the public health system a rating of 1 out of 10.
Just about 34.3 per cent of respondents ranked on the side of favourability: 10.8 per cent of those polled gave the public health system a 6 out of 10 rating, with another 8.5 per cent giving a 7 out of 10.
Some 6.5 per cent put the level of health care at 8; 2.1 per cent said 9; and 6.4 per cent rated it 10 out of 10.
But 3.1 per cent of respondents said they were unsure about how to rank the system.
Fieldwork for the poll was conducted between September 27 and October 3.
People aged 18 years and older participated in the survey.
