Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald's co-accused yet to access bail

Trinidad and Tobago's for­mer gov­ern­ment min­is­ter Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald's long-time com­pan­ion Michael Carew and an­oth­er man charged along­side the cou­ple for cor­rup­tion and mon­ey laun­der­ing, are yet to ac­cess bail.
 
Ms. Mc­Don­ald, Mr. Carew, Vic­tor McEachrane, Edgar Zephyrine and Wayne An­tho­ny were offered bail last week.
 
However, on­ly Ms Mc­Don­ald, Mr. Zephyrine and Mr. McEachrane were able to ac­cess bail at the end of last week.
 
Sources says Mr. Carew and Mr. An­tho­ny's rel­a­tives at­tempt­ed to get ap­proval of bail, last Fri­day and Monday, but were turned away as the Clerk as absent from work. 
 
They are ex­pect­ed to try again Tuesday.
 
The group is fac­ing 49 charges over at­tempts to de­fraud the gov­ern­ment by al­leged­ly procur­ing funds for Mr. Carew's Cal­abar Foun­da­tion, un­der the guise that it was a char­i­ty.
