Men remanded in connection with Bank manager’s disappearance

Three men who were implicated in the disappearance of a Bank of Nova Scotia Loans Manager were remanded when they appeared in the Black River Resident Magistrates Court.

Those charged are Devon Blair, 19, of Clarendon, Darien Josephs,20, of Westmoreland and Simon Lindsay,23, from Manchester.

They have also been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, housebreaking and larceny, receiving stolen property and murder.

Michael Campbell, 42, disappeared in December of last year.

His Toyota Mark Two was found two days later in May Pen, Clarendon.

The men were arrested by members of the Area 3 Highway Patrol in July during a routine operation along the Goshen main Road in St. Elizabeth.

The police told the court that a car in which the three were travelling was stopped and searched and a Colt semi-automatic 9mm pistol along with 28 rounds were found in the vehicle.

While they were at the station the police discovered that the men were wanted by the New Market Police for house breaking and larceny and receiving stolen property.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Blair was the person caught on a surveillance camera at a bank withdrawing money from the missing banker's account.

In denying bail Resident Magistrate Dionne Meyler-Reid said the files on all three cases were incomplete and that the three were major flight risks.

The court also heard that they were wanted by the Manchester Police for various crimes.

They are to return to court on October one.
