NWC to truck water to sections of western parishes this week

 
The National Water Commission (NWC) will undertake the trucking of water in sections of Western Jamaica this week to bridge the gap in piped water supply amid ongoing restoration works following Hurricane Melissa. 
 
The NWC says it continues to face power supply issues, dislocated pipelines and mechanical challenges following the devastation caused by the storm. 
 
Water was trucked to several communities on Monday in Hanover, Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth and St. James. 
 
The exercise is scheduled to continue Tuesday and Wednesday, before a pause for Christmas Day on Thursday. 
 
It is expected to resume on Friday. 
 
Scores of community in Western Jamaica that scores of communities in Western Jamaica have been without portable water for the past several weeks after Hurricane Melissa caused significant damage to homes and the infrastructure of the NWC.
