Opposition leader Portia Simpson Miller has expressed
concern about the millions of dollars which have reportedly been stolen from
the Offices of the Finance Ministry.
Speaking Sunday night to party supporters in Portmore, Mrs. Simpson Miller claimed that money has never before been stolen under any other administration.
"Have you ever, in the life of a Minister of Finance, seen anything like this?. Not under the leadership of a Bustamante, a Manley, a Shearer, Sangster, Seaga, Michael Manley, P J Patterson, or under my watch have you ever heard that a vault at the ministry of finance was broken into and $17 million gone. And they cannot tell you were the $17 million is?" she said.
Last week reports emerged that $17 million being held in evidence at the FID was missing.
It has not yet been ascertained exactly when or under what circumstances the money was stolen.
