The recent oil spill in the Rio Cobre has been contained.
At the same time, Trade Winds Citrus Limited, the company responsible for the pollution, has been served with a summons to appear in court under the Wild Life Protection Act.
In an update Tuesday afternoon, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) said the management team of Trades Winds Citrus is leading the continued rehabilitation of storm drains and other affected areas of the river.
NEPA had served the company with an enforcement notice after its investigations concluded that the oil spill resulted from a malfunctioning boiler at the Jamaica Beverage plant, owned and operated by Trade Winds Citrus.
