Teachers attached to Seaforth High School in St. Thomas are protesting the dismissal of principal Calbert Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was relieved of his post after a probe into financial irregularities at the institution.

But he was cleared of any wrongdoing after the Education Ministry found no evidence of malfeasance.

The placard-bearing teachers gathered in the Seaforth Square Tuesday morning, demanding the reinstatement of Mr. Thomas.

Teacher Norman Rose said there is great deal of uncertainty surrounding the issue.

"After your investigation was done and there was no financial irregularities finding you dismissed him and you call back the bursar. It leads to a lot of concern and the staff is deeply troubled because there's no what we call clarity. There is no understanding as to what is the situation here," he complained.

"We're actually protesting the action of the board because we're saying that in every case, justice must prevail. We can't see justice in this and we can't even see transparency," he said, adding that the teachers were not consulted before the decision to remove the principal was made.

The teachers told Radio Jamaica News they will continue their protest until the former principal is reinstated.
