Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament for St. Elizabeth South Eastern, Franklyn Witter, is distancing himself and his supporters from Monday's protest along the Exton main road.
Alleged supporters of the People's National Party blocked the main road calling for PNP caretaker for the constituency, Norman Scott, to be replaced.
But Mr. Scott said no member of the PNP was involved in or supported the protest action, which resulted in the rerouting of traffic.
Mr. Scott, who is mayor of Spanish Town, said the PNP is dedicated to addressing the genuine concerns of the people of South East St. Elizabeth, focusing on the development of the constituency and the well-being of its residents.
In the meantime, Mr. Witter said the JLP is not involving itself in the affairs of the PNP.
"The PNP has a lot of challenges in relation to finding a candidate. I don't business with PNP business. I am on the ground doing my work, representing the people of South East St. Elizabeth. The PNP has changed over seven candidates since 2020 in terms of persons that they want to run against me," he said, adding that JLP members "don't have time to waste with them".
