Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police Division
The St. Catherine South Police say there is urgent need to expand the Old Harbour station in light of the town's growing population.
There have been 16 murders in Old Harbour since the start of the year.
Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, said he is eager to bring more officers, such as a quick response team, at the station to assist in crime fighting.
However, he said the Old Harbour station does not have enough space to house additional police personnel.
He was speaking at a business event hosted by the South St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce.
