Prime Minister Andrew Holness

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says a $50 million fund has been established to reward people who provide information that will thwart plans by criminals to hijack goods in transit.
It will also reward people who provide information to foil supermarket robberies and other crimes during the Christmas season.
The Prime Minister's announcement comes two days after a truck transporting cooking oil was hijacked in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
A police corporal and another man have been arrested in connection with that incident.
The Prime Minister said intelligence has revealed that criminal networks have increased their efforts to fleece business operators.
Noting that the security forces have been able to thwart some of the robberies, Mr. Holness said the government is also seeking to save more lives by preventing contract killings.
"We want to know, and you could get a very nice reward - and of course, all well secretly done. You get your money, but the criminals get their just rewards," said Mr. Holness, as he appealed for people to give information on planned criminal activity.
He was speaking Monday at the handing over ceremony for two homes to the Johnson sisters in Seville Heights, St. Ann, as part of the process to renovate and transform Marcus Garvey's childhood home into a national heritage site.
