A man who was wanted by the St. James police for murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm has been taken into custody.
He was arrested during an operation on Bottom Road in St. James on Wednesday morning.
The police say an apartment occupied by the man was searched.
Twenty-six lead sheets, a composite notebook and seven cellular phones with names, addresses, telephone numbers and credit card information were reportedly found.
The man was arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaching the Law Reform Fraudulent Transactions Act (commonly called the Lottery Scam Act).
The police say during an interview, the man admitted to having an illegal firearm.
He reportedly took the police to an area next to his apartment where he had buried the weapon.
The man was taken to the Montego Bay Police Station where he was further interviewed and allegedly confessed to a murder committed on May 3, 2020.
