A 14-year-old student of the Charlemont
High School drowned in the Banburry River, in Linstead, St. Catherine Monday.
He has been identified as Craig Lee Daley of Rose Hall, Linstead.
The CCN reports that Craig left home and went swimming with friends.
He got into difficulty and drowned before help could reach him.
The police were alerted and his body removed to the morgue for post mortem.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl is dead and another girl and a woman injured after being hit by large metal pipes that fell from a truck at the intersection of Spanish Town Road and Washington Boulevard Monday.
Dead is Kerine Morrison, of Rose Hill, Clarendon, while the women injured are aged 36 and 12.
It is reported that shortly after 2:30, a Freightliner motor truck was being driven towards Spanish Town.
When the truck reached the intersection, a strap which held the pipes broke and six pipes fell from the truck hitting the three, who were standing at the side of the road.
Two of the injured persons were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were treated while Kerine was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she died.
