A 68 year old woman is among three persons who have been left homeless after fire destroyed two houses on Wednesday.
One of the houses is in Black River, St. Elizabeth and the other in Rose Hill, the border of Manchester and St. Elizabeth.
The first fire occurred about 10:45 a.m. in Black River at School Street which destroyed an apartment.
A unit from Black River Fire Department and one from Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to the blaze.
However, their efforts were hampered by the lack of water in the Black River area as the units have to travel 10 kilometers to Luana to refill.
Meanwhile, firefighters from the Junction Station responded to the second blaze about 12:25 p.m.
The firefighters were only able to carryout cooling down operations.
