Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has been recognised by the World Economic Forum for its Wave of Change movement at the first edition of the Beyond Tourism Stars Awards.
The recognition was due to the group's dedication to science-led innovation.
The World Economic Forum said, by embedding sustainability across all areas of hotel management, Iberostar demonstrates that responsible tourism not only has a positive impact on destinations, but also serves as a key driver of operational efficiency.
The World Economic Forum pointed out that the hotel group's commitment is channelled through its Wave of Change movement - an initiative which was launched in 2017.
This movement, which is driven by a team of 30 in-house scientists, integrates environmental protection, socioeconomic well-being and cultural heritage into the core of its business.
