Health & Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton
Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has downplayed concerns raised by Opposition Leader Mark Golding about the government's stewardship of the health sector.
Mr Golding recently held talks with members of the Jamaican diaspora in the United States where he blasted the government for, in his view, mishandling the portfolio.
But, Dr Tufton, making his contribution in the Sectoral Debate in Parliament yesterday, asserted that the current administration has made the largest investment in the health sector.
In that regard, he the government is working to fundamentally transform the public healthcare system, citing significant expenditure on infrastructure and medical personnel.
Responding directly to some of the criticisms, he cautioned against "false narratives, either through ignorance, lack of understanding, or just plain mischief!"
