By Nakinskie Robinson

Two people were shot and killed and four others wounded in Mandeville, Manchester sometime after 10 o'clock Friday morning.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that the wounded are being treated at hospital.

Their condition is unknown.

A team of police and soldiers has been deployed to the area, which has since been cordoned off.

The shooting occurred amid a peace march organised by the Albion Primary school to decry the recent spate of crime and violence in the parish.

An alleged eyewitness said she heard explosions but initially thought it was the backfire of a motorcycle.

She then reportedly saw two men running away from the scene and pushing guns into their pockets.

A man who transported one of the victims to hospital said he was unaware of what was happening at the time when others opened the door of his vehicle and put a woman inside.

He saw the woman was wounded and drove to the hospital.

The woman died.
