Two men charged in relation to shooting in Mason Hall, St. Mary

The St. Mary Police have charged two men in relation to a shooting at a wake along Gully Road in Mason Hall last week.

Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, shooting with intent and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony, are 29-year-old Ariel McFarlane, also called 'Beever' and 36-year-old Christopher Melbourne, better known as 'Chase' - both of Gully Road in Grants Town, St. Mary.

The Port Maria Police reported that about 1 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, an argument developed between McFarlane and a man.

According to the police, the man's relative intervened in an attempt to quell the dispute, but he was reportedly attacked by Melbourne, resulting in a physical altercation.

During the fracas, McFarlane intervened, pulled a firearm from his waistband and fired multiple shots in the direction of the man. It was further reported that McFarlane handed the firearm to Melbourne, who also fired multiple shots at the complainant.

The man escaped unharmed and later made a report to the police.

An investigation was launched and the two men were later arrested.

They were subsequently charged after an identification parade on Saturday.
