United Oil & Gas Plc says it has successfully completed a major seabed survey offshore Jamaica under its Walton-Morant Licence.
The company confirmed that all three phases of the Seabed Geochemical Exploration programme were carried out safely and as planned.
The work included detailed seabed mapping, heat flow testing in the Walton and Morant basins, and sediment sampling at 42 locations. Samples were successfully collected from all sites.
The material will now be sent to laboratories in the United States for testing to check for signs of hydrocarbons. Initial results are expected in the coming weeks.
Chief Executive Officer Brian Larkin says the completed survey is an important milestone and will help reduce exploration risk as the company continues talks with potential partners about future offshore drilling in Jamaican waters.
