Reggae Girlz move to the top of Group B in CONCACAF Women's WCQ

Jamaica's Reggae Girlz, led by a brace from captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, moved to the top of Group “B” following their 3-2 victory against hosts Nicaragua in their CONCACAF Women's World Cup qualifying game on Monday night.

Sheylas Flores put the Central Americans ahead in minute 27, before Shaw equalized in the 37th minute. Shaw put the Jamaicans ahead in the 58th minutes scoring her 62nd goal in 46 appearances for the Reggae Girlz.

That lead was extended by Shania Hayles in minute 68. However, the Central Americans scored a second courtesy of Maikelin Marquez in the 82nd minute.

This was the second game for the Jamaicans following their record breaking 18-0 win over Dominica on November 29 last year. Jamaica are on 6 points, the same as Nicaragua, who have played three games, but with a better goal difference.

The Reggae Girlz next game will be at home in April against Antigua and Barbuda as they hunt a third World Cup berth.
