Two St. Elizabeth men accused of attempting to smuggle ganja were on Tuesday offered bail in the sum of $900,000.
Robin Ebanks and Robin Lindo were arrested by the US Coast Guard and handed over to the Jamaica Defence Force last month.
They are charged with possession of, dealing in, trafficking and attempting to export ganja.
Allegations are that the US Coast Guard pursued several men who they said had discarded several bags of drugs.
Mr. Lindo and Mr. Ebanks were subsequently arrested.
During the bail application on Tuesday in the Port Antonio Parish Court, their attorney DAndre Buchanan questioned the jurisdiction in which his clients were detained.
Mr. Buchanan argued that the US Coast Guard had no interest in the men given the fact that they kept them in custody for a week before handing them over to the JDF.
Mr. Buchanan told the court that Mr. Lindo and Mr. Ebanks were fishing when they stumbled upon the incident.
They are also represented by attorney John Jacobs.
The men were subsequently offered bail with one or two sureties. They are to report to the police three days per week as part of their bail conditions.
