A United States visitor is receiving medical attention after seemingly suffering mental distress at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay on Tuesday morning.

A three-minute video that has been widely circulated on social media showed the woman screaming and behaving uncontrollably as police and security officers attempt to restrain her.

Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright, says the authorities have contacted the woman's family.

"We hope to get her home as soon as possible. It's quite an unfortunate incident. The police handled it as best as they could within the circumstances. And as I said before, she's under medical observation," he said.

The woman was preparing to depart the island when she apparently suffered a mental breakdown.
