Dhana Warren, the woman who pleaded guilty to issuing a threat against the police in a viral video following the fatal shooting of Othniel Lobban, has been fined $900,000.
If the fine is not paid, Warren will serve four months behind bars.
Warren pleaded guilty on April 24 and was sentenced when she appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Thursday.
It's alleged that on January 23, the woman posted to her TikTok account that police personnel who fatally shot Lobban, also called 'Thickman' and 'One Daddy Badness', will be attacked.
She was arrested following an investigation which led police to May Pen, Clarendon.
Warren's attorney, Rodain Richards, who spoke with Radio Jamaica News following the hearing, said the sentence was balanced, noting that the imposition of a custodial sentence would not have been justified.
Mr. Richards said there is a lesson to be learned.
"And I think it is very important that it is learned sooner rather than later. When you take up your phone and you go to do a video, a live TikTok or whatever new metrics there is now, do so responsibly and do so bearing in mind that whatever you do or you say against someone may cause harm to that person. And if it does, there are actions to be taken in respect of same," he cautioned.
