In one of the most open Derby races in recent years at Caymanas Park, as many as four of the sixteen starters have great chaces of landing the 98th running of the Boom Jamaica Derby over 12 furlongs on Saturday at Caymanas Park. 2000 Guineas winner Commander Two along with Fayrouz the winner of Oaks, Governor's Cup winner Drummer Boy and last year's champion 2 year old Marquesas is the group from which the winner of the 12 furlong event is expected to emerge.
Drummer Boy to be ridden by veteran jockey Gary Richards, is the 2-1 ante post favourite, followed by Commander Two with Javaniel Patterson at 5-2; Fayrouz with another apprentice Linton Steadman at 3-1 and Marquesas to be ridden by Shane Ellis at 7-2.
Ouside of the top four, 1000 Guineas winner Disability Charm with Robert Halledeen; Honey Ryda the mount of Wesley Henry and Royal Aviator to be ridden by apprentice Anthony Thomas, are also being fairly supported.
Fayrouz who is conditioned by Anthony "Baba" Nunes, has posted the fastest times among the 3 year olds this season, going over a mile and also 10 furlongs.
Meanwhile, Triple Crown winner She's A Maneater renews rivalry with Will In Charge and Bigdaddykool in The Viceroy Trophy over nine furlongs. First post for the 12-race card is 11:20 am with live coverage of all races on RE TV.
