Additional discipline for 2016 Digicel Grand Prix Series

An additional discipline plus extra incentive for athletes who make it to the final of their event are two of the changes made for the second installment of the Digicel Grand Prix Athletics Series.

The high jump has been added to the list of disciplines which will be contested during the series which spans six meets from February 6 - 20.

Each athlete who makes the final will now receive $5,000 which will be paid to his or her school.

The top boy and girl will also be eligible for cash and prizes including gym equipment and scholarships for breaking records.

The series gets underway with the Western Championships and the Youngster Goldsmith Classics on February 6.

Apart from the high jump, the other events to be contested will be the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, long jump, discus and the 4 x 400 metres relay.

Edwin Allen girls and STETHS boys won the 2015 series.
