Asafa Powell out of Jamaica International

Commonwealth and   Pan Am silver-medallist Lansford Spence will replace Asafa Powell in the 200 metres at Saturday’s JN Jamaica International Invitational meet at the national stadium.

Powell pulled out on Friday morning citing groin problem.  Athletes' liaison officer and meet director Donald Quarrie confirmed the news. Quarrie was speaking Friday morning on TVJ's Smile Jamaica.

Powell next scheduled race is next Friday in Doha at the opening diamond league meet of the season.  meanwhile Powell’s MVP teammate and reigning Olympic champion Melaine Walker says she will looking to take care of business in seeking to win the 400m hurdles for the 2nd straight year.  The meet gets underway at 6pm with Olympic development women's 400m
