Champion trainer Jason DaCosta accounted for the quinella in Saturday’s 85th running of the Jamaica Oaks, the 4th classic of the local racing season at Caymanas Park.
The event which is confined to native bred 3 year old fillies, saw DaCosta's 6-1 chance Banadura under jockey Robert Halledeen creating a mild upset to land the $3.75 million contest over 10 furlongs. Banadura clocked 2 minutes, 14.3 for the distance to win by two and a half lengths over stable companion Rosetta.
She closed out a double for DaCosta on the 10-race card, while Raddesh Roman rode two winners to close the gap on leader Tevin Foster to just five wins in the race for the jockey's championship.
Racing continues on Tuesday with the 104th running of the Jamaica Derby, the final jewel of the local triple crown series, being the feature event on the programme.
