Bridgeport & Eltham High in first Walker Cup semis

It will be an all St. Catherine clash in the first semi-final of the urban area Walker Cup, following victories by Bridgeport High School and Eltham High at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Friday.

It took penalties to separate Eltham and Excelsior in the second game of Friday's quarter-final double header, after the two were deadlocked at nil-all after full and two periods of extra-time.

Eltham won the contest 4-3.

Excelsior came under early pressure in the penalty shoot-out after missing their second kick.

But things were again level when Eltham missed their third.

However, when Excelsior's fourth goal kick went wayward, it was left up to Eltham's Damion Binns to send his team through to the semifinals, which he did.

Bridgeport had defeated St. Andrew Technical High School 2-0 with goals from Kemar Phillpott to book their semi-final spot.

JC meets St. George's College in one quarter finals

Defending champions Jamaica College (JC) will meet St. George's College who they beat in the final last year in the first of Saturday's two quarter-finals.

JC qualified as the best second placed team.

However, it is not of too much concern to Delroy Brow, Assistant Coach, as they go up against the group winners.

"History has always been on our side … we always tend to come out on top in the Walker Cup. Despite this, we're prepared to come out on top."

The defeat of last year's final still lingers in minds of the players of St. George's College.

"We still remember that but that was last year. We're a different team now but we still have quality players. (Jamaica College) obviously have a good team, with a great coach so we expect a tough game but we're confident," Neviell Bell, Coach of St. George's College said.

Waterford who edged Jamaica College 1-0 to top Group "A", will play Group "D" winners Norman Manley in the day's other match.

All games will be played at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
