Broadbell scores lone Jamaican victory at Lausanne Diamond League

Commentary on the men's 110m hurdles at the Lausanne Diamond League

Olympic bronze medallist Rasheed Broadbell recorded the lone Jamaican victory at the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland on Thursday, turning back a quality field in the men's 110 metre hurdles. Broadbell closed rapidly in clocking 13.10 seconds to stun Olympic champion Grant Holloway.

Another Jamaican and Tokyo Olympic champion, Hansle Parchment, took third in 13.23 seconds with Holloway clocking 13.14 for the runner-up spot.

Elsewhere, Olympic silver medallist Wayne Pinnock narrowly missed out on winning the men's long jump where he cut the sand at 8.01 metres for second place.

2019 world champion Tajay Gayle placed 4th with 7.92 metres, while compatriot Carey McLeod was 7th with a best effort of 7.82 metres.

Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece won the event with his last jump, bounding out to 8.06 metres.

On the women's side there were podium finishes for national champion Rushell Clayton and Janieve Russell in the 400 metre hurdles.

Clayton returned 53.32 seconds for the runner-up spot, while Russell clocked 54.48 for third with another Jamaican Andrenette Knight, finishing 4th in 54.93 seconds.

Olympic bronze medallist Femke Bol won the event in a new meet record time of 52.25 seconds.

National record holder Ackera Nugent was third in the women's 100 metres hurdles in 12.38 seconds, while compatriot and 2-time world champion Danielle Williams placed 5th in 12.53 seconds.

The race was won by Tokyo Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in a season-equalling best of 12.35 seconds.
