After early success on the opening day of their second round regional 4-day clash against the Combined Campuses and Colleges team, the Jamaica Scorpions bowlers were made to toil at Sabina Park with the visitors finishing the day at 260-7, thanks to an unbeaten century from captain Jonathan Carter.
Carter notched a sixth first class century to be 108 at the close along with Zishon Motara 28, in a 54 run 7th wicket stand. Carter has so far stroked 12 fours in his knock.
The Scorpions after winning the toss, reduced the CCC to 50-3 before a 38 run fourth wicket stand between Shamarh Brooks and Carter took them to 88-4. Brooks made 36 and Sion Hackett 30.
Abhijai Mansingh is the pick of the Scorpions bowlers with 2-37, while Ojay Shields has 2-42 and Gordon Bryan 2-56. Peat Salmon has the other wicket to fall. Both teams are coming off nine wicket defeats in the opening round.
Meanwhile, leaders Windward Islands Volcanoes were in control against Barbados Pride at stumps at Kensington Cricket Club.
The Volcanoes were cruising at 123-0 in their first innings response to 214. Jeremy Solozano is on 63 with 8 fours to go with captain Kimani Melius 52 inclusive of four boundaries.
Earlier, the Pride were reeling at 34-4 before recovering to their 214, thanks to 74 from Kevin Wickham and 37 from Shane Dowrich. Jomel Warrican chipped in with 21.
Ryan John did the damage with 4-47 to go with two wickets each for Shamar Springer and Daniel Cyrus.
The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force were 128-3 in their first innings response to 163 made by the West Indies Academy at Conaree.
Vikash Mohan has so far top scored with 54, while Amir Jangoo 24 and Jyd Goolie 15, will resume for the Red Force.
Earlier, Jayden Seales 3-26 and Anderson Phillip 3-63, did the damage to dismiss the academy team. Teddy Bishop made 65 and Joshua Bishop 32. Jamaican Jordan Johnson is in the academy squad.
