Discus silver for Dacres on Day 4 of Doha World Champs

Jamaica secured its fourth medal at the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha when national record holder Fedrick Dacres landed silver in the men’s discus throw final on Monday. Dacres produced his best effort of 66.94 metres in round 2 of the competition to land the first medal for Jamaica in this event at a senior global championship.

The gold went to Sweden’s Daniel Stahl who threw 67.59 metres in the third round, having won the silver at the 2017 edition in London.

Elsewhere on day 4 of competition, national record holder Natoya Goule clocked 2 minutes, 00.11 seconds for sixth place in the women’s 800 metres final won by Uganda’s Halimah Nakaayi in a national record 1:58.04.  

Jamaica is now third on the medal table with 2 gold and 2 silver. The United States lead the table with 4 gold, 6 silver and a bronze.
