Doping in athletics worse than 30 years ago - Ben Johnson

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Denise Walters

Doping in athletics is worse now than it was over 30 years ago. That's the word from former 100m world record holder Ben Johnson who was given a lifetime ban for multiple doping offences.

His view is that if it wasn't for the more powerful nations being beaten at their own game, doping wouldn't be a big issue.

Johnson who spoke exclusively with TVJ Sports, believes  that because Jamaica is small country punching above its weight, a rivalry was spawned between them and the Americans who didn't appreciate a small nation or someone like himself from a small island beating them.
