Gayle & Pollard retained by IPL teams ahead of auction

Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle and twenty/20 specialist Kieron Pollard have been retained by their clubs as the deadline for player retention closed on Wednesday ahead of the January 8 and 9 auctions for the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

According to reports, Gayle was the only player retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders while Pollard is one of four players retained by the Mumbai Indians.

Fellow West Indian, Dwayne Bravo, will likely play for a new team as he heads into the auction pool.
