Mackayda Thomas delivered a shooting masterclass, scoring an impressive 41 goals from 45 attempts to propel Gaynstead to a dramatic 48-44 extra-time victory over Jose Marti to secure the ISSA urban area Under-19 netball title at the Andrew High School for Girls on Wednesday.
The keenly-contested final was deadlocked at 39-39 at the end of regulation time, before Gaynstead showed greater composure in extra time, outscoring Jose Marti 9-5 to clinch the trophy. Kalee Martin top scored for Jose Marti in the losing effort for with 42 goals from 47 attempts.
Gaynstead will now shift focus to Friday's all-island Under-19 final, where they will face rural area champions Holmwood Technical at GC Foster College. Meanwhile, Wolmer's and Denbigh High are set to contest the under-16 all-island final. The Under-16 final will be played at 1:00 pm, while the Under-19 decider is set for 2:00 pm.
