World 100m champion Oblique Seville leads a list of nine men nominated for the RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation National Sportsman of the Year Award for 2025.
Despite news breaking earlier this year that he will be one of 4 field event athletes who are in the process of switching allegiance to Turkey, World Indoor silver medalist Wayne Pinnock finds himself among nine athletes who could be crowned National Sportsman of the Year for 2025.
World 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson has also been nominated on a list where 8 of the 9 nominees are from track and field.
The other nominees are Tokyo World Championship sprint hurdlers silver and bronze medalists Orlando Bennett and Tyler Mason, long jumper silver medallist Tajay Gayle, 200m bronze medallist Bryan Levell and indoor high jump bronze medallist Raymond Richards, while grand senior world champion shooter Anthony 'TJ' Johnson is the only non-track and field nominee.
Meanwhile only four women have been nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year Award. World Championship 100m silver medalist Tina Clayton along with Shericka Jackson who took bronze in the 200m in Tokyo, are joined by World Indoor 60m hurdles bronze medalist Ackera Nugent and motor sports phenom Sara Misir.
The full list of male and four female nominees was announced at the launch on Wednesday morning. The awards gala will also see a name change for 2026, where it will be known as the RJRGLEANER National Sports Awards.
The 65th RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards Gala will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The awards will on TVJ, TVJ SN, Hitz 92 FM and 1spotmedia.
