Guyana Jaguars are regional WICB PCL champions

Guyana Jaguars kept up their relentless consistency in performance in the inaugural WICB PCL Championship, by defeating the Windwards Volcanoes by an innings and 10 runs to win the regional 4-day title on Monday.

The Volcanoes resumed  on 113-6 on Monday's 4th and final day, and were dismissed for 134, falling short by 10 runs to make the Jaguars bat again. Veerasammy Permaul took 3-30 and Devendra Bishoo 3-38, as Permaul captured his 300th wicket in first class cricket, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul surpassed 25,000 runs in his first class career during his century of 118 in  the Jaguars' innings.

The Jaguars' captain Christopher Barnwell who made 148 was named man of the match.

Final scores: Volcanoes 283 and 134; Jaguars 427.

The Jamaica Franchise held Barbados Pride to a draw at Sabina Park, as the Pride batted out the final day after acknowledging they could not win the Championship.

Final scores: The Pride 310 and 303-9, Kraigg Brathwaite 90 against Jason Dawes 3-44, Damion Jacobs 3-57 and outgoing captain Tamar Lambert 3-61; Jamaica Franchise 228.

And at the National Cricket centre in Couva, Trinidad, the Leewards Hurricanes won their 2nd match of the season, defeating Trinidad & Tobago Red Force by 5-wickets.

Final scores: T&T 291 and 226; Hurricanes 277 and 245-5, chasing 241 to win. Rahkeem Cornwall made 101 not out.

The final point standings: Guyana Jaguars, champions with 148 points; Barbados Pride 117; Windwards Volcanoes 109; Jamaica Franchise 75; T&T Red Force 65 and Leewards Hurricanes 54.
