Hashan Tillakaratne voices match fixing claims about Sri Lanka

Former Captain Hashan Tillakaratne claims Sri Lanka has been involved in match fixing since 1992 and says he can reveal names of the people involved to support his claim.

Tillkaratne, who led Sri Lanka from 2003 to 2004, alleged that the menace of match-fixing is not a new phenomenon and also raised questions about Sri Lanka making four changes against India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final in Mumbai earlier this month.

Sri Lanka lost the World Cup final.

The left handed batsman said he was not implying categorically that the recent World Cup final was fixed, however, he expressed reservations about the selections.

Tillakaratne, who represented Sri Lanka in 83 tests and 200 one-day internationals, said the match-fixing issue could have been exposed earlier but 'it was pushed down by giving money to various people'.
