Holding among six WI legends nominated greatest all time ODI team

Jamaica's Michael Holding is among six West Indies legends nominated for an International Cricket Council (ICC) online poll to pick the greatest all-time One Day International (ODI) team.

Brian Lara, Sir Vivian Richards, Gordon Greenidge, Carl Hooper and Joel Garner are the others.

Holding, who took 142 wickets in his ODI career spanning 11 years, is contending with fellow West Indian Garner, Australia's Allan Donald, Glenn McGrath, Dennis Lillee, Pakistan's Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas for three fast-bowling places.

Lara and Sir Viv are among eight players including Australia's Ricky Ponting also bidding for three spots in the middle order.

Greenidge is contending for one of the opening slots, while Hooper is among the short-listed spinners for the dream team which can be voted on at the ICC's website.

Three West Indies matches have been nominated as greatest ODI of all time but only one, the West Indies' 17 run victory over Australia at Lords in 1975, has the team winning.
