IPL auction days away

Three hundred and fifty top cricketers will go under the auctioneer's hammer in Bangalore, India on January 8 and 9 with the 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises bidding for their services for the fourth season of the lucrative twenty20 league.

A dozen players including West Indian Kieron Pollard, Indians Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag, have been retained by five franchises in advance of the auction.

The list of players up for grabs also includes West Indies opener Chris Gayle who recently scored his second triple century, the twenty20 league's fastest century maker Yusuf Pathan and 2010 ICC one day international player of the year, South African A B de Villiers.

The opening match of IPL 2011 season will take place on April 8 in Chennai.
