With their two leading players from last season now in the picture expectations are high that Jamaica College can add to their double success (Manning Cup and Olivier Shield) from the 2013 schoolboy football season.
Inspirational captain Junior Flemmings started the season, while Raffique Bryan has played the last two matches after returning from college tour and trials in the United States and Europe.
However, despite having his two most influential players who scored 31 goals between them last season and additions to the squad like in-form striker Akeem Shackleford, coach Miguel Coley is being cautious in his expectations, especially after what he considered another below par effort against Jonathan Grant on Tuesday.
“For the players, they have to understand that we have these players but we cannot be complacent," Coley lamented. "They have to come up here and stamp their class day to day because school boys don’t mess around. They are not going to say that you are Junior Flemmings or Raffique Bryan, they are coming for you.
“And this was a game in terms of what they need to do, stamp their quality some more," Coley added. "But it is a learning experience for everybody, at whatever level you are, you have to learn the game every single day,” the senior National Assistant Coach mentioned.
Despite contesting some close matches so far, Jamaica College are unbeaten with maximum 15 points from 5 matches, 9 points ahead of second place St. Andrew Technical.
