John Wall has been removed as head coach of the Under-20 Reggae Boyz team after 18 months on the job. The Swedish coach recently led the young Reggae Boyz to the final round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers after winning their CFU group.
In a press release on Tuesday morning, the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) stated it had decided to recall coach Wall from duties with the U20 team so he can better concentrate on assisting senior coach Heimir Hallgrimsson in preparing for the numerous competitions ahead.
Meanwhile, according to Radio Jamaica Sports sources, Wall had failed to carry out the mandate of the JFF, as he held just one camp and played one practice game during his tenure.
The sources further stated that Wall, who did not return to Jamaica after the CFU qualifiers, spent most of his time in his homeland of Sweden.
Wall will be replaced by Jerome Waite who currently coaches Tivoli Gardens in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL).
Waite is no stranger to the national progrmame as he previously served as national senior team assistant coach to Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore.
