Martin Manley retires from track and field

2013 Under-18 world champion and 2014 Youth Olympic gold medallist Martin Manley has resigned from athletics, citing repeated injuries. The 24 year old announced his resignation via his social media pages on Friday.

The former St Jago High said the decision came with sadness but not regret as he realizes that with recurring injuries he was unable to train and compete with the consistency required of professional athletes.

Manley admitted that the decision was a hard one but he felt it was the right one and that he cherished the years representing Jamaica.

Manley was a member of Jamaica's 4x400m team that won the bronze medal in the 4x400m at the World Relays in the Bahamas in April 2017 and later migrated to the United States where he joined MVP International in Florida before returning to Jamaica to train.
