More students doing gymnastics

Jessie Ripoll Primary School dominated the class three section of the Jamaica Amateur Gymnastics Association's Developmental Meet at the Girls Guide Headquarters on Tuesday.

Dana Simmonds scored 9.4 points to win the section ahead of team-mates Matthias Haidyk and Tiamoya Reid.

Students from Clan Carthy Primary, George Headley and St. Catherine primary schools also participated in the meet and Shin Mishia, the Meet Director, expressed satisfaction with the number of competitors.

"We had the biggest number of level three participants today, which means that our school programme is growing. Usually we have only a few level three participants, but this time we had more than 10 students competing. We’re going this programme to popularize gymnastics in Jamaica but we’re (only) doing it in Kingston right now," Nishida said.
