Jamaica's Mercedes Academy driver Alex Powell, clinched his first Formula 4 title, emerging the champion rookie driver, as the curtain came down on the 2024 Italian F4 Championship season with Round 7 in Monza over the weekend.
Powell from Prema Racing, celebrated his rookie title in his adopted city of Monza, having lived there for years. Powell had his issues in races one and two, but came up trumps in race three, finishing third and earning a place on podium, behind Australian driver Gianmarco Pradel and Brit Freddie slater.
Powell ended the rookie championship with 343 points, followed by Nakamura Berta 328 and Tomass Stolcermanis, in third with 279 points. He finished the overall drivers’ championship in 5th behind winner Slater.
