Reggae Girlz beat South Africa for the first time

Jamaica's all-time leading scorer Khadija "Bunny" Shaw guided the Reggae Girlz to their first ever victory over South Africa when she netted twice in Friday’s 3-0 victory in the first of two friendly internationals at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The Manchester City star, who was donning the national colours from the first time since September last year, found the net in the 55th and 83rd minutes.

Siobhan Wilson had sent the Hubert Busby-coached Reggae Girlz team ahead in the 29th minute from a direct corner kick.

Coach Busby says while he’s delighted with the result, he was more impressed with how the team executed his instructions.

The win ended the Reggae Girlz five game losing streak which started in February this year. Both teams had played to a 1-1 draw in the only other encounter in Durban 2019. They will meet again on Monday also at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
